After the success of Project Utkarsh Superb 30, at Kanpur GAIL decided to increase the intake of the students to 60 and hence GAIL Utkarsh Superb 60 was launched in Kanpur on 3rd July 2010. The students have been selected through a three hours of written test in Physics Chemistry & Mathematics. The test was conducted at Kanpur, Lucknow, Etawa, Allahabad, Agra, & Gwalior. A total of 1546 students appeared in the written test at various locations. The students who could qualify the written test were called for the interview. Interview was held at Kanpur under the guidance of Shri Abhayanand, IPS along with other panelists from with IIT background.

After the selection of the students the project started at a fully residential accommodation where the students are made to stay for the next 10 months. According to Mr. Abhayanand,IPS “the best teacher is one who doesn’t tell the answer but asks the right question”. Based on this philosophy the students are guided in the right direction and shown the right way to attempt the questions. There are faculties who have a rich background and hold BTech degrees from IIT’s, other than having a rich experience of coaching the students.

The students are provided with a fully residential accommodation on a room sharing basis with other students. The students coming here from varied background interact with each other in such a way that they become a homogeneous group complementing each other in studies and preparation. The students have to appear regularly in test which is done both modules wise as well as topic wise. A regular monitoring of the students is done to keep a check on their performance and preparations.

The centre is managed by full time centre manager along with a team of 12 staff members who work 24X7 to give a comfortable stay to the students. There is a fully equipped kitchen to provide three meals along with tea and snacks to the students.
