UTKARSH SUPERB 30, DELHI

Mission in life and dream in eyes, to make it to IIT, but economic barriers restraining the will to win, is the condition of many talented but economically weak students of Delhi. They are blessed with sharp minds, and all they lack is guidance and support .Their families struggle each day to meet the cost of living in Delhi, which is sky rocketing. Looking at the need of these students Centre for Social Responsibility & Leadership came with a project called “UTKARSH SUPERB 30”, which aims at providing a residential coaching, stay and food arrangements for the talented students, such that they can focus on their studies. The project is fully residential for the students which helps them to maintain their focus on the one and only target ie successfully clearing the engineering exam.

Project UTKARSH SUPERB 30, Delhi centre has been jointly sponsored by Power Grid Corporation Ltd & Indraprastha Gas Ltd.

Selection: The selections of these students have been done through a rigorous process of written test & personal interview of the successful students. A total of 987 students appeared in the written test which was conducted at majority of Rashtriya Pritabha Vikas Vidyalayas, Kendriya Vidyalayas, and govt schools. The students were tested in Physics Chemistry & Mathematics for their conceptual clarity and indepth understanding of the subject. The students who could clear the written test were called for the interview which was conducted by the academic mentor Shri Abhayanand, IPS.

Background: The students come from varied family background of farmer, ex service man, small shop keepers, school teachers, labourers etc. The students are kept in full time residential accommodation so that they can focus on their studies and being a totally residential Learning Centre, the students get an environment where they do not have to think about domestic home and other factors which could distract them at home. They not only learn the calculations of math , numerical of chemistry and concepts of physics , but also understand and adopt the art of peer learning , helping their friends working on the problems and clearing doubts with each other , and together aiming for the same goal of making it to IIT.

Academics & Faculty: The academics guidance to the students is given to the students by Mr Abahayanand,IPS. There are full time faculties who are devoting time to guide the students in each subject. The faculties are from IIT background and have rich experience of coaching the students for cracking IIT/JEE examinations. The students on an average spend 12 to 16 hours studying which includes 3 to 4 hours of rigorous classes. The target is set to clear the course by end of December after which they would be made to give full time mock tests. The students are all set to crack the IIT/JEE test.
