Project Samarthan

NTPC, which is one of the largest power producers in the country, has taken adequate care of establishing educational facilities for project ‘Samarthan’ located in remote areas. As a welfare measure, they have also opened schools, not only for NTPC but for their vendors and CISF. However, due to lack of good teachers, large number of students started opting for coaching classes in their 11th & 12th class.

Mr. Arup Roy Chaudhary, Chairman NTPC, realizing this issue decided to take corrective measures for the aforesaid educational anomaly. CSRL under its CSR project made a quick assessment of school performance and submitted a proposal for the online remedial coaching, which would not be charged to the students and still could act on the improvement of their result of 12th Std.

Despite of time crisis and other factors in a new project CSRL managed to initiate the project. CSRL with support from NTPC organized video conferencing classes for all the centers. Each centre had appointed Unit Co-coordinators who were responsible for the affairs at their respective units.

Project Samarthan 2011-2012 started on 9th May with a total of 19 participating units with faculties with rich academic background and experience being involved in the project.
