Abhayanand Super 30

Mr. Abhayanand, DGP-Patna (Bihar)

Shri Abhayanand is a 1977 batch IPS officer and currently serves as the Director General of Police in the Bihar Government. He is an alumnus of St. Xavier’s School, Patna and St Michael's High School, Patna and has majored in Physics, besides topping his class from Science College, Patna.

Shri Abhayanand conceptualized the programme Super 30, a free tutorial to coach 30 bright youngsters from underprivileged families of rural Bihar for cracking the IIT entrance. These 30 students were selected through a competitive examination procedure involving a written entrance test followed by an interview. They constitute a group called Super 30 and are then trained for IIT-JEE and with the same thought they are provided with free food, lodging, and other learning aids. The number of successful candidates from Super 30 has been growing steadily. While 18 of the inaugural batch of Super 30 achieved success in 2003, number rose to 22 in 2004, 26 in 2005, and 28 in 2006. In 2008, all thirty students of the Super 30 qualified in the IIT entrance exam.

In 2008, Abhayanand disassociated himself with Ramanujan School of mathematics and started mentoring various other programs on the lines of Super 30 by the name of Abhayanand Super 30. He got in touch with the other social service organizations for extending their help to the more needy students. One of these programs, Rahmani Super 30, was designed specifically for children from the Muslim community. They pick up aspirants and coach them with the help of charitable bodies. Magadh Super 30 was initiated by the local and financially sound people to support the talented but else challenged students of Gaya and other districts.

With a vision to expand the project so as the maximum number of students is benefitted out of it, Mr. Abhayanand began his association with CSRL’s in 2008 and with the CSR support from the Public Sector units there was no looking back. Mr. Abhayanand has been supporting CSRL as the academic mentor of Super 30 projects being run at various centres. It’s been four years that CSRL has been successfully running a Super 30 centre in KANPUR by the name of GAIL UTKARSH SUPER 100; (Sponsored by GAIL India Ltd). Centres at Delhi, Guwahati, Mumbai, Jorhat, and Jaipur also got established from 2010 to 2011.The organizations like Power Grid Corporation, IGL, Vedanta Foundation, Oil India Ltd & Plus Approach Foundation gradually associated with us. Currently as many as 7 centres pan India are being mentored by him and executed efficiently by CSRL. Plans of expanding two additional projects are in progress.
