ABOUT THE PROGRAM

What is the “CSR Donors & Doers – The Art of Giving” program?
In the 4th year of organizing, CSR Donors & Doers – The Art of Giving 2010 is our annual event which aims at bringing together corporate representatives, experts, opinion makers, grassroots innovators and influencers from diverse background on common platform to discuss the various dimensions of linking corporate and NGOs that will deliver all forms of content in the future.

Background of this program

Lack of proper education is mother of all socio-economic problems: unemployment, poverty, over population, poor judgment on governance, lack of family care, etc. The government at centre or states keeps EDUCATION on priority yet the results are discouraging. Enrollments in schools have improved in recent years but the quality of teaching in rural or sub-urban India has declined. The falling standards in government schools have lowered down admissions in them and private institutions are thriving. This deprives large number of students from getting quality education. The story of university education is not very different either. Indian universities are not comparable with universities of Western or even with South–Asian countries. Research has also taken a back seat. Except for emergence of good private schools which serves the high middle class and upper class, there is nothing to boast of in a large country like ours.

Incidentally most of corporate houses keep EDUCATION on their CSR agenda yet only a few claim meaningful outcomes. We feel CSR can do a lot to improve the present plight of education, which will automatically take care of other problems. This program, therefore, aims to enlighten the participants on how to create excellence in CSR through EDUCATION.
